After opening in an old office space on Lafayette Street in New York, not many would have imagined that streetwear brand Supreme would grow into a global force. With its timeless cool natural aurora over the years, Supreme has produced some downright timeless and memorable pieces. Many of these pieces are part of Supreme’s ongoing collaborative effort, which any fan of the brand knows about.
With nearly 30 years of deep-backed catalogues, Supreme has produced some downright iconic collaborations in the past, working with celebrities in fashion, lifestyle, and just about every other industry we can think of.At The Sole Supplier, we’re undoubtedly huge fans of Supreme, so we decided to recap our favorites when it comes to some of the brand’s most amazing collaborations. So lock it in here and find out our top picks!
Where would our list be without arguably Supreme’s most high-profile collaboration? In 2017, Supreme shocked the world by announcing a massive collection with French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton.
The collection includes nearly 50 items, ranging from wardrobe staples like jackets, hoodies, and t-shirts to luxury homewares like sleepwear, blankets, and pillows. Most of the pieces feature Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram print and make extensive use of the iconic Supreme Red hue.
The collection even includes the Louis Vuitton Malle Courier 90 luggage.Only three of these pieces are known to exist and are exclusively available to Louis Vuitton’s most loyal customers. One of them even sold for a whopping $125,000 (£92,256) at Christie’s in 2017, making it Supreme’s best-selling piece of all time.Check out “The Most Expensive Supreme Items Ever Made” for more dazzling additions.
Nearly five years on, each of these pieces has fetched astronomically high resale values on markets and auction sites. It remains to be seen whether the two will collaborate again, but we can be sure that it will bring the fashion world to its knees for the second time.
Just when loyal fans of the brand were starting to doubt the quality of Supreme’s 2022 offerings, the brand pulled out of one of its most surprising collaborations to date.In March 2022, Supreme has teamed up with mysterious British haute couture brand Burberry to launch a collection of clothing and accessories.
Included in the selection, we saw everything from shearling-neck down jackets to box logo tees and hoodies, and even matching jogging suits, most of which wore Burberry’s signature Nova Check print. The regular beige shades, backed by shades of pale blue and pink, provide a modern update on some of the British brand’s most iconic styles.
In addition to clothing, we also saw a few accessories, including bucket hats, 6-piece hats, and skateboard decks, each wearing (you guessed it) the iconic plaid pattern.
Eight years after Supreme was founded, we saw the brand team up with sportswear giant Nike.Continuing the launch of Nike’s newest skateboard sub-brand, Nike SB, the Beavertown brand has teamed up with Supreme on a collaborative version of the new SB Dunk style.
This latest release is available in “white cement” and “black cement” colorways, with a limited edition of 500 pairs each. The upper of each style is wrapped in Nike’s signature elephant print, strikingly similar to the Air Jordan 3 colorway that debuted not long ago. Also, the whites have a bluish tinge, while the blacks come in a contrasting deep red.
For now, unless you’re willing to shell out the big bucks, neither model can handle it.Both the black and white are currently having the lowest asking price of over £5000 on sites like StockX, making them one of the most sought-after Nike SB collaborations of all time.
What do you get when you combine one of the most famous guitar models in the world with one of the biggest streetwear brands of all time?A collector’s piece seems to be the answer. In 2017, Supreme and legendary music maker Fender teamed up to produce a series of limited-edition Stratocasters that are perfect for any hype that’s good at music.
The guitar itself features the brand’s signature Stratocaster shape and is dominated by white to contrast with Supreme’s famous red box logo on the body. This guitar also comes with a custom case, strap and picks.
While most of these guitars will probably never be played, you can’t help but think how great living room displays they are, so this is truly a collaboration that appeals to us all.
Now, while we could easily talk about the recent additions to that partnership, it would be rude to ignore the full back catalogue of Supreme and Stone Island’s relationship. Before its first collaboration in 2014, Stone Island was a brand that was (and still is) inherent to football casual and Superman, but this initial collaboration helped the brand establish itself in the streetwear community.
Since their first collaboration, we’ve done seven different collaborations, each with a range of fresh designs and silhouettes.Highlights of the collection include the heat-responsive trench coat from SS16, the floral Stampato down jacket from FW17 and, of course, the SS22 reversible faux fur parka.
With strong and solid relationships, Supreme can replicate the same annual success as brands like The North Face, and Stone Island continues to move forward, which remains an exciting prospect for many.
Speaking of The North Face, it’s only fair to include the iconic relationship shared between the two brands on this list.Dating all the way back to FW07, Supreme x The North Face has produced a wide selection of merchandise, with new releases almost every year (or more) since then.
Now in its 20th year, the Supreme x The North face collection has offered a wide selection of outerwear over the years and doesn’t seem to have any plans to stop. Some of our favorites include the “By Any Means Necessary” Nupste jacket from FW15, the Statue of Liberty Mountain jacket from FW19, and the global map print jacket from SS14.
Considering both Supreme and The North Face are brands under the VF Corporation, we can’t see these collaborative efforts drying up anytime soon, and we’re certainly excited for the next one.
